Haldimand County business fined for illegal sewage dumping

The owner of a hauling service in Haldimand County has been fined after raw sewage was dumped into a field in Selkirk in 2022.
Christopher Reid – who owns D&C Pumping Service – has two years to pay a $10,000 fine under Ontario’s Environmental Protection Act.
The province says ministry staff were doing an inspection in May 2022 when they saw raw sewage that had been released from a pumper truck stuck in a soybean field.
Reid told officials that he released some of the sewage from the truck to reduce the weight of its load.
The sewage waste pooled on the gravel laneway and in the area around the pumper truck.
