Federal government to provide $1.7B in funding for Hamilton LRT

The federal government is providing funding for Hamilton’s LRT project.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced federal funding for transit projects in Toronto and Hamilton at his news conference on Tuesday morning.
“We’re investing over $12 billion including in four subway projects and one rapid transit project in Hamilton,” said Trudeau.
Hamiltons LRT is proceeding. Funding for the project from McMaster U to Stoney Creek will be split 50/50 between the Province and the Feds each contributing $1.7 billion with the City picking up operating costs. I am told shovels could be in the ground very quickly.
