Niagara Falls woman killed in fiery crash on QEW in Oakville
UPDATE
A 34-year-old woman has died and seven others are injured in a multi-vehicle collision that shut down all eastbound lanes on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) for several hours.
The fiery crash happened in the Toronto-bound lanes near Trafalgar Rd. around 11 p.m. Thursday.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says a transport truck carrying a load of produce collided with multiple vehicles and burst into flames.
OPP has not released the victim’s name but confirmed she was a Niagara Falls resident. Police say she was discovered in a car pinned between a concrete barrier and the truck early Friday after crews put out the fire.
Seven other people suffered non-life threatening injuries, police say.
The cause of the collision is not yet known.
The two left lanes on the highway were reopened around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
It is not known when the remaining lanes will be reopened.
