Duncan arranges talk with Attawapiskat leader
Canada’s aboriginal affairs minister will meet with the chief of Attawapiskat later this week to discuss the housing on the James Bay reserve.
John Duncan will meet Chief Theresa Spence in Thunder Bay on Thursday.
Both say they want to work together to make sure families living in tents, shacks and sub-standard housing can spend the winter warm and safe.
However, both are at odds over Ottawa’s decision to have a third-party manager control the band’s finances.
Spence has says she will not cooperate with the overseer, but Ottawa says her cooperation isn’t necessary.
