More than 500 Hamilton business and community leaders gathered this morning to network at the annual Mayor’s Breakfast.

Mayor Andrea Horwath gave the keynote address, praising the progress that’s been made across the city so far this year.

In a campaign-style speech, Horwath highlighted the work that’s been done when it comes to housing, pointing to the very recent Jamesville demolition that will help to contribute to the city’s goal of 47,000 additional homes by 2031.

There was also a lot of excitement over TD Coliseum’s grand opening in November, which is guaranteed to boost Hamilton’s entertainment and tourism industry.

But Horwath says that affordable housing and homelessness remain the city’s toughest challenges.

The breakfast — presented by Hamilton Heath Sciences and other local organizations — was held at Liuna Station, a banquet and convention centre in central Hamilton.
