The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has a ‘gourd’ time with CHCH News

CHCH News’ Adam Atkinson’s coverage of what may be the world’s longest zucchini landed him a feature on Stephen Colbert’s opening monologue of his show Thursday night.
Last Friday, Adam reported on an 8-foot, five-inch long zucchini that Thorold’s Henry D’Angela is confident will squash the record.
Thursday night, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert dubbed the coverage the night’s “top story”, with Colbert saying that he “can’t ignore history being made.”
The monologue featured three clips from the story and did not shy away from the puns, or from poking fun at some of the coverage.

“Let’s go back to intrepid garden newsman Adam Atkinson for more,” said Colbert.
The host himself took to the floor, mirroring the moment Adam compared the size of the zucchini to his height.
“I went to journalism school. I wanted to be a foreign correspondent. Now I’m lying on the ground next to a very long squash. Please dig a hole and just dig me into it. Back to you Taz.”
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 12:05 a.m. on Global TV.
