A cyclist has been killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oakville Tuesday afternoon.

Halton police say it happened shortly before 12 p.m. in front of South Oakville Centre, formerly known as Hopedale Mall, located at 1515 Rebecca St.

Officers say a man on a bike was travelling west on Rebecca Street when a 57-year-old Oakville woman turned left into the parking lot and struck the man.

Investigators are looking to determine the degree of contact between the man and the woman’s car and the Collision Reconstruction Unit has now taken over the case.

Authorities say the 67-year-old Burlington man was taken to a trauma centre with critical injuries, but succumbed to his injuries Friday.

Police closed Rebecca Street between Third Line and Savannah Gate for several hours Tuesday but the road has since reopened.
