Brantford police charge off-duty Hamilton police officer with assault

Brantford police have charged a Hamilton police officer for an incident that allegedly happened in May while he was off-duty.

Const. Peter Franchin is charged with level one assault after an alleged incident on May 12 involving a person from the public.

Police say the other person involved was also charged with assault.

Brantford police investigated the incident that resulted in the charges.

Const. Franchin is expected for his first court appearance on Sept. 1 in Brantford.
