Brantford man arrested after attempted murder and sexual assault

Brantford police have arrested a 28-year-old man after an attempted murder and sexual assault last weekend.

Investigators say Alveen Ahmed was driving a black 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck and picked a woman up near Queen and Darling Streets.

Ahmed then drove to a location near Golf Road and Highway 403 where the assault took place.

Following the assault, Ahmed left the scene in the pickup truck.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, the Brantford Police Service received a report that a woman was located by a Ontario Provincial Police officer in the area of Golf Road near Highway 403.

The woman was taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries during the physical and sexual assault.

After receiving medical treatment, the woman was released from the hospital – Victim Services of Brantford-Brant are now involved.

Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle in another jurisdiction. Ahmed was later found and arrested at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ahmed stands charged for attempted murder, assault with a weapon, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.

Authorities believe there may be other victims and are asking them to come forward.
