Belleville water levels stabilize

There is relief in Belleville and neighbouring communities hoping to avoid a repeat of major 2008 flooding.

Water levels of the Moira River have stabilized after a small army of about 500 volunteers spent the weekend piling sandbags around 70 homes.

Authorities have been preparing for rising water levels since early last month, but the river hasn’t crested like it did six years ago, causing huge floods.
