Business at Staples spikes about 50% this time of year as parents and students flock the store to get those school supplies. While businesses thrive at this time of year, those purchasing the items are feeling the strain in their wallet.

Retailmenot.ca did a survey and it found that Canadian parents plan to spend an average $300 per child for back to school shopping. Some parents are also expected to buy memory sticks, tablets and laptops. Another expense at this time of year is also the fresh new wardrobe.
