Ancaster Mill owner chosen to restore Niagara’s Toronto Power Generating Station

An idyllic Niagara Falls building on the banks of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls is set to undergo a major renovation.
Niagara Parks announced Monday it had concluded the public procurement process to restore and redevelop the historic Toronto Power Generating Station.
Built in 1906, the building supplied electricity across Ontario before ceasing operations in 1974. Since that time, it has sat dormant.
In 2021, the city started looking for private investors to take advantage of the gorgeous property.
Niagara Parks has now signed a letter of intent with Pearle Hospitality, which is the company behind the Ancaster Mill in Hamilton and Spencer’s At The Waterfront in Burlington, among other properties.
The $200-million plan for the station includes a five-star boutique hotel, restaurants, a brewery, a spa, art gallery and more.
Niagara Parks expects to break ground next year and open the restored property in the summer or fall of 2027.
