A Hamilton activist charged in connection with last month’s vandalism spree on Locke Street will remain behind bars for at least two more weeks.

Peter Hopperton has been in custody since his arrest on Friday, charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Hopperton made a court appearance in Hamilton on Tuesday.

He was denied bail and will remain behind bars until his next court date on Apr. 25.

About 30 of his supporters were in court to hear the decision.

Police say he is believed to be the leader of the anarchist group “The Tower.”

The group has said it was not behind the vandalism spree but said it supported the action.
