A 54-year-old man has been arrested after a double stabbing in Oakville Sunday morning.

At approximately 10 a.m., Halton police were called to a residence in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Great Lakes Boulevard for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found two stabbing victims with serious injuries. They were taken to hospital and remain in serious but stable condition.

A 54-year-old Oakville man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Authorities say the identity of the accused is not being released to protect the victims.

Police are not searching for other suspects.
