3 people injured in St. Catharines shooting

Niagara Regional Police are searching for two armed men following a daytime shooting in St. Catharines.

Officers were called to Church St. and Niagara St. around 3:45 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

They found three people who had been shot. Two are in their 20s, the other is 17 years old.

Two men were were flown by Ornge air ambulance to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

A third man was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Const. Phil Gavin said officers searched into the night in what he described as a “slow, methodical process.”

Officers have been getting help from other units across Niagara including the canine unit, detectives and fleet support.

Police have released descriptions of the two men they are looking for:

  • Black, early 20s, 5’11” short hair, earrings, black shirt with white writing on front, black shorts to above the knee
  • Black, early 20s, 6’3″, dreadlocks in a ponytail tucked up inside a black hat, black shirt and grey track pants

Police say both suspects are considered armed and should not be approached.

If located, residents are asked to call 911 immediately.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.
