The horror for the Bosma family started just past dinner time on Monday May 6th, 2013 when Tim Bosma left his Ancaster home, leaving his wife and two year old daughter to accompany two strangers for a test drive on a truck he was selling online.

With no sign of her husband the next day, Sharlene Bosma reaches out via Facebook in search for Tim, Hamilton police are notified and call on the homicide unit to aid in the investigation.

Hundreds join the search and even more spread the word online. Soon #FindTimBosma was trending on social media outlets worldwide.

Three days after his disapearance, Sharlene pleads to her husband’s captors, “it was just a truck, it was just a truck…you don’t need him but I do. And our daughter needs her daddy back. So please let him come home.”

The search suddenly shifts from Ancaster to Brantford after police locate Bosma’s phone and receive reports of his black 2007 Dodge Ram seen driving through the nearby town.

On Saturday May 11, 27 year old Dellen Millard of Toronto is arrested and charged with forcible confinement and theft over $5 000. The next day, Bosma’s truck is uncovered in a trailer that’s parked outside Millard’s mother’s home just north of Toronto.

Dellen was the heir to the family aviation business that was founded in the 60’s by his grandfather, police searched through their company hanger located at the Waterloo International Airport. They would then find themselves at a farm owned by Dellen in Ayr Ontario, near Kitchener and it was at that farm that the Bosma’s worst fears were realized.

Dellen Millard is then charged with first degree murder. The second suspect, 25 year old Mark Smich of Oakville is arrested a week later and is also charged with first degree murder. A third person, Christine Noudga, who was believed to be Millard’s girlfriend at the time, is charged with accessory after the fact.
