Relieved to be back from the Dominican

The two Hamilton men jailed for three weeks in the Dominican Republic have arrived home.

Nick Miele (above left), 34, of Stoney Creek and Benny Costantini, 18, of Hamilton are landed at Pearson Airport around 6:30 pm.

Miele was married on May 27th at a Punta Cana resort. Hours later while at the resort’s buffet a fight broke out between two men who then knocked into Miele’s new bride (above right).

The family says Miele pushed the men aside to help his wife, but he was arrested along with Costantini and charged with physical aggression. The charges have been dropped.

First of all, we need to hear all sides of this story. I want to hear what the Montreal man has to say, since he was in the hospital in the Dominican Republic with injuries. I want to hear from the hotel employees and the manager. I don’t believe that they got arrested for just brawling, and damages. Punta Cana is a very popular and exclusive tourist destination, I don’t think they would arrest a tourist for some hotel damages. There is more to this story, hopefully we get to hear from the Montreal man soon as well as from the hotel management.

If you beat a man up in Hamilton you go to jail. If you beat someone up in a different country…guess what? You go to jail and sometimes it is not as nice. I have retired in the DR and it takes a lot for a tourist to get arrested. I am going on 9 years and never had a problem. We see tourists come visit all the time, get intoxicated and act like jackasses and beat someone so bad they are hospitalized.

Respect the laws and I hope they learned a lesson.
