Tractor-trailer fire closes lanes on QEW in Hamilton

The QEW in Hamilton came to a halt Thursday morning following a tractor-trailer fire in the Fort Erie-bound lanes.

The fire started shortly after 7 a.m. near Nikola Tesla Boulevard and the OPP closed all lanes while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Police say the incident stemmed from a tire rapture and that the cab and diesel tanks caught on fire. The truck had been carrying nickel tablets.

No injuries were reported.

The OPP reopened all lanes around 7:40 p.m.
