York police investigate fatal shooting at party

First Published:

York Regional Police is asking witnesses to come forward after a man was killed at a party early Friday morning.

Shortly after 4 a.m., officers were called to a home on Bloomington Rd. East in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Police were told there had been shots fired at the home. Officers say a man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Roughly 30 minutes later, police were called to a nearby home on Bethesda Rd. where two men had been knocking on doors looking for someone to call them a taxi.

Officers located two men hiding in the bushes and placed them under arrest. They say a handgun was also found nearby.

Investigators say preliminary information indicates the home may have been rented and there was a large party with “many people in attendance” at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the homicide unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865.
