Wynne fends off Horwath demands for gas plant inquiry

First Published:

Updated Premier Kathleen Wynne was fighting off the opposition over the power-plant scandal.

Wynne is refusing to call an inquiry into the costly cancellation of the gas-fired plants in Mississauga and Oakville. The opposition kept up the pressure over the plants that were cancelled just before the last election with the Liberals in danger of losing seats because many local voters were against the plants.

The Conservatives and NDP both want inquiries. Wynne says they would just create more expense for taxpayers, and it’s enough for a legislature committee to look into the matter. We get more from Al Sweeney.
