A man is facing 15 charges after he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman in Oakville and stole her SUV.

It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Royal Windsor Dr. and Cornwall Rd.

Police believe the same man tried to steal another car about 30 minutes earlier at a Petro Canada on Royal Windsor Dr.

Members of the Halton and Peel police services tracked down the stolen vehicle near Dundas St. and Winston Churchill Blvd. The man had abandoned the SUV in a parking lot and tried to steal another car.

“It was at this time; the male suspect was located by members of the Peel Police and arrested after a short standoff. The firearm used during this incident has been recovered,” said Halton police in a news release.

Police say one victim suffered a small cut to his face following an interaction with the man.

Investigators say the suspect was arrested and taken to hospital for drug-related reasons.

He is facing several charges including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, and utter threats. They say he is currently on probation for a weapons charge.

He is scheduled for a bail hearing in Milton at a later date.
