A 64-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Hamilton.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday near King St. East and James St. South.

Police say the woman was crossing the street when a white pickup truck hit her.

She was transported to hospital where she later died.
