Niagara police are looking for a woman after a St. Catharines senior had her purse stolen while she was out shopping.

Officers were called to a grocery store near Louth St. and Fourth Ave. in St. Catharine on September 15.

An 83-year-old woman told police that her purse went missing and she believed it had been stolen.

Loss Prevention Officers reviewed surveillance video and saw a woman who appeared to be following the victim around the store.

Police say the woman could be seen taking the purse from the victim’s shopping cart and then exit the store.

Investigators describe the suspect as being roughly 25 to 35 years of age and was wearing a royal blue felt-like overcoat buttoned up, a black baseball cap with no logo, royal blue baggy pajama fit pants with a white flower print, black dress shoes and black sunglasses.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the 1 District St. Catharines office at 905-688-4111 ext. 4233.
