UPDATE: Woman charged after driving car off escarpment

A woman is facing an impaired driving charge after driving off the escarpment early Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Mountain Brow Blvd. near the top of Kenilworth Access around 3 a.m.

The vehicle went off the roadway and broke through the fence, landing about two-thirds of the way down the mountain.

The vehicle landed in the brush near the Margate Stairs.

Hamilton fire crews helped the woman get down the mountain. The 30-year-old was taken to Hamilton General Hospital.
