Winter weather travel advisory ended in Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville

Environment Canada has ended the weather advisory for our region.

The City of Hamilton and parts of Halton Region, including Burlington and Oakville, were under a Winter Weather Travel Advisory Monday morning.

An area of snow is expected to move through, bringing five to ten centimetres of snow by Monday afternoon.

Environment Canada says the period of heaviest snowfall will likely occur between about 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Reduced visibility could impact the morning commute.

OPP reported dozens of crashes on the go before 8 a.m. Police are reminding drivers to travel according to conditions and to give themselves extra room and extra time.

James MacDonald Elementary School in Hamilton is closed due to a power outage in the area. Remote learning is cancelled as well.
