Anyone traveling to the U.S. east coast in the next few days could be impacted by a historic blizzard, with Air Canada and Westjet issuing travel alerts and advisories. And this storm has a name, they’re calling it Jonas.

The Washington DC and Baltimore areas are expected to get the worst of it, with as much as 70 cm or 2 feet of snow in the forecast. A blizzard watch is in effect for those areas as wind gusts could reach 60 kms an hour.

The heaviest snow is expected to fall tomorrow afternoon through Saturday night.

The storm could also hit Philadelphia and New York and there are concerns Jonas could knock out power to hundreds of thousands of people and no power can mean no heat.

The temperature low in the Washington DC area is expected to around -7 degrees celsius.
