White-collar cuts at Ford USA

First Published:

More jobs are being cut at the Ford Motor Company in the U.S. The company hopes 1400 more employees, who are eligible to retire this year, will accept early retirement incentives.  If that many employees accept, then the company will be on track to accomplish its 11-billion dollar restructuring plan that began more than a year ago. Ford says it will have to resort to involuntary separations if not enough people accept the offer. Information Technology workers  and those involved with new vehicle production are not being offered the incentives. Ford plants reopened after Covid-19 disruptions and demand for new vehicles is slowly returning. So far, there is no word on a similar program in Canada.
