Westbound LINC to be closed for ‘much needed maintenance’

First Published:

The City of Hamilton says the westbound lanes of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway will be shut down Friday night as crews complete some “much needed maintenance.”

The closure will affect the stretch of road between Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway/Mud Street to Mohawk Rd. However, access between Hwy. 403 and the Mohawk Rd. exit will remain open during the closure.

The city says the maintenance work will include spot repairs to the asphalt, clearing of catch basins, installation of new reflectors, repairs to some signage and some sections of shave and pave resurfacing.

It is the first of two weekends that will see shutdowns on the Linc. The eastbound lanes will be closed from Sept. 6 to 8 to allow for similar maintenance work.

Traffic is expected to increase during the closures and motorists should allow extra time and plan alternate routes.

Both closures are “weather permitting” and the city says any potential changes to the dates will be posted.
