Niagara regional police have charged a 23-year-old man after a dog was allegedly deliberately injured.
Police say they were called to a Welland home in the area of Southworth St. South and McCabe Ave. following a report of a deliberately injured dog.
When officers arrived, they were met be a 17-year-old girl and her badly injured Chihuahua, who died shortly after police arrived.
Police say a man fled the scene before they arrived but he was arrested a short distance away.
Niagara police charged 23-year-old Liam Nyland with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and failure to comply with recognizance of bail.
