Welland man charged after targeted stabbing: Niagara Police

A Welland man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area of Patsy Ave. and Sixth St. around 2 p.m. where they found a man in his 30s with serious stab wounds.

Emergency crews treated the victim at the scene and brought him to a local hospital.

The victim was then airlifted to an out-of-region hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested and charged 44-year-old Darren John Verge with aggravated assault and failing to comply with a probation order.

Officers say the incident was targeted.
