WATCH: Trudeau, Ford to make announcement about electric vehicle manufacturing at 12:15 p.m.

VIDEO: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to make an announcement this afternoon in southwestern Ontario about electric vehicle manufacturing.

The PM will be joined by Ontario Premier Doug Ford as well as the province’s economic development minister Vic Fedeli in the town of Ingersoll for the update.

The town is home to General Motors’ CAMI production plant which is slated to become the country’s first full-scale commercial electric vehicle production facility.

The federal and provincial governments have each invested 259-million dollars toward the project and GM’s plan to make its Oshawa assembly plant E-V-ready.
