WATCH LIVE: Prime Minister Trudeau to provide update on COVID-19 at 11:30 a.m.

First Published:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold his regular COVID-19 update Wednesday morning.

Trudeau will be joined by Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland and Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry François-Philippe Champagne.

Trudeau is also expected to announce significant new funding for academic research at dozens of universities.

The research won’t necessarily be related to the pandemic.

The Trudeau government has already plowed about $1 billion into research since COVID-19 first hit the country a year ago, to fund projects it hopes will help the economy rebound from the pandemic.
