Hamilton police have made an arrest in a murder in the city’s Stipley neighbourhood over the weekend.

Police were called to a building on Barton St. E, at Barnesdale Ave. N, around 6:45 p.m. Sunday evening.

Officers found a man in his 50s with signs of blunt force trauma. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He’s been identified as Patrick Chaddock, 59. Police say he was a long-time tenant of the building.

Colin Marcotte, 47, of Hamilton has now been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

According to police, Marcotte was associated to the building through other tenants but was not currently living there.

“Chaddock and Marcotte did not have any form of relationship to one another,” said a police release.

Marcotte was associated to the premise through other tenants, however, was not currently residing there.
