One group definitely upset with the Conservative government is our veterans.

“You don’t change the rules. Because it’s gonna cost too much. That’s what they’ve done.”

Kevin Berry is an outspoken Afghanistan war veteran who walked from Nova Scotia to Ontario to raise awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But he was in Ottawa Friday with a veterans group to protest budget cuts that they say are leaving them with limited resources and bleak futures.

“We’re not doing enough for our veterans and for him to stand up and say they are, it’s a disgrace. An absolute disgrace.”

Earlier this month, the Veterans Ombudsman released a report which says hundreds of severely disabled veterans will take a financial hit once they retire because some of their benefits will end. And he says soldiers seriously injured in their line of work don’t have the same kind of options as people in civilian jobs.
