Two Waterdown students were awarded a $5000 grant for a cheesy frittata recipe. Grace and Ellen joined us this morning to tell us more about the Cheese4Change program that focuses on teaching youth sustainable food habits.
How to make our $5k Frittata:
1. Start with 8 fresh and local eggs. Crack and whisk the eggs and add salt, pepper,
and garlic.
2. Add chopped and sautéed peppers to a frying pan. Peppers are a great eco-friendly
option because they can be grown in your own garden.
3. Add chopped and sautéed mushrooms to the frying pan. Mushrooms are a great
sustainable vegetable because they can grow vertically and don’t take up too much
space in gardens!
4. Add cherry tomatoes to the frying pan. You can also grow cherry tomatoes at home,
which is a great way to make sure they are healthy, accessible and eco-friendly.
5. Pour egg mixture over the veggies in the frying pan.
6. Finally, Add some crumbled Tre Stelle Feta to frying pan over egg and veggie
mixture. This feta is sustainable because it checks off all the boxes – Ecologically
responsible, low waste, (you can reuse the containers!), ecologically responsible,
accessible and healthy.
7. Cook the egg mixture on the stovetop in a frying pan over medium-low heat for about
25 minutes. Sprinkle some more Tre Stelle Feta over the top and serve!
