Two dead in Ontario float plane crash

Two people are dead following a small plane crash near Wawa in north-central Ontario.

The deHavilland Beaver float plane went down at 9 a.m. Thursday in the community of Hawk Junction. Ontario Provincial Police says both occupants of the plane were killed.

Investigators from the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) were called to the scene. TSB spokesman Alex Fournier says the aircraft had departed Hawk Lake in Eastern Ontario and was enroute to Oba Lake.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and the victims’ names and hometowns have not been released.
