Travel to U.S. drops nearly 40% as Canadians look to European options

Social media is raving about ‘Euro girl summer’ and it seems Canadians are taking the cue.
Travel from Canada to destinations like Portugal and Denmark is up substantially from last year, as well as places outside of Europe like New Zealand, Argentina and Japan.
All of these destinations are looking a lot more appealing to Canadians lately, as travel south of the border is down more than 30 percent compared to last summer.
It’s not exactly a surprise that fewer Canadians want to travel in the states right now after months of ’51st state’ comments, tariffs and horror stories at the land border.
Tourism industry experts say this trend isn’t likely to go away any time soon.
