Russia launches biggest attack on Kyiv amid new G7 sanctions

In Ukraine, emergency services continued to recover bodies from beneath rubble after Russia hit Kyiv with a huge missile and drone attack overnight Monday into Tuesday.

The attack was among the biggest on the capital since the start of the war and comes on the heels of Canada’s new sanctions against Russian individuals and vessels, announced at the G7.

Peace talks have effectively stalled in recent weeks, with Russian President Vladimir Putin refusing to meet in person with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At this week’s G7 summit, support for Ukraine was a central topic seeing countries like Canada agree to up their military and financial assistance to Ukraine as the war presses on.
