Ceasefire to begin Jan.19 while Israel and Hamas negotiations continue

The United States and Qatar announced a ceasefire agreement today between Israel and Hamas, pausing the devastating 15-month war in Gaza and clearing the way for dozens of Israeli hostages to go home.

The ceasefire will be in place as long as Israel and Hamas remain at the negotiating table on a long-term truce.

According to Qatari officials, the ceasefire implementation is set to begin Sunday Jan. 19.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says there are still a few items that need to be ironed out before the plan is a “complete go”.
