Travel writer Natalie Preddie’s recent trip to Africa helped empower girls in the country

First Published:

Back from her trip to Africa, travel writer Natalie Preddie joined us with ways you can travel while supporting a good cause.

While Africa has great safaris and breathtaking views, it also shows how many girls are left uneducated there. Education for girls and women has always been important to Natalie, so on this trip she decided to partner with Children Believe. They provide programs in developing nations to to empower children to dream and stand up for what they believe in. If girls are educated they are more likely to run a business, are three times less likely to be sold into modern slavery and for every year of secondary school girls complete their income will increase by 25%, helping millions out of poverty.

With three boys, Natalie also believes it’s important to teach them how to advocate for women as well, so she has conversations with them and has great tips on how to talk to your sons about becoming advocates.
