Toddler struck and killed in parking lot of Toronto apartment building

First Published:

A two-year-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Toronto apartment building.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Richview Rd. and Scarlett Rd.

Police say a 25-year-old man driving a Pontiac Torrent was waiting outside of the apartment building to pick someone up.

A mother and her two-year-old child came out of the building and, at the same time, the person who the driver was waiting for exited through the door.

The person got into the car and the driver reversed, striking the child.

The boy was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Police did not say if any charges are pending.

Investigators are asking residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security or dash cam video of the incident to contact Toronto police.
