Ticats release Mallett

First Published:

One week before the start of training camp, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released running back Martell Mallett.

The 27-year old Mallett, the CFL’s Rookie of the Year in 2009, signed with the Ticats in January of 2012. That was 17 months ago… but fans never got to see him play.

He tore an achilles tendon at last year’s training camp and missed the entire year.

He took part in the Ticats mini camp last month and it had been expected he’d be at training camp at McMaster, but he’s been released.

Chevon Walker, C.J. Gable, Bo Palmer and Daryl Stephenson are the running backs on the roster.
