Hamilton police seize 3 firearms, drugs during traffic stop

A Hamilton man has been charged after police found three firearms and drugs during a traffic stop on Thursday.

Hamilton police say the traffic stop took place around 11:05 a.m. in the Wentworth St. N and Barton St. E area.

Police discovered the vehicle was stolen. The 47-year-old man driving was not licenced and the licence plates were not registered to the vehicle.

A search of the vehicles revealed two loaded restricted handguns and one loaded restricted handgun altered to be used as a fully automatic prohibited firearm. Police also found one prohibited over-capacity magazine, cocaine, and psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms.

Police charged the driver with multiple criminal charges. He was also charged with four traffic-related offences.
