Teens charged in break-and-enter on Sherman Drive in St. Catharines

Three teens have been charged in a break-and-enter in St. Catharines overnight, Niagara police say.

Officers were called to a home in the area of Sherman Dr. and Overholt St. around 3:30 a.m. They found a man in his 30s who had been stabbed.

They say just before calling police, the man discovered three people in his vehicle in his driveway. He chased the three after them and managed to catch one of them.

Police say there was a fight and the man was stabbed. The suspect then ran from the area.

The victim had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to local hospital.

Police searched the area but were not able to find the suspects.

Detectives found there was another break-and-enter at a property on Sherman Dr. with the same three suspects. They were able to identify three teens.

A 14-year-old, 15-year-old and 16-year-old have each been charged with break-and-enter dwelling with intent and theft under $5,000 (from a motor vehicle).

The 15-year-old faces an additional charge of assault with a weapon.

Police say the three have been released with future court dates.
