Teen saved from human trafficking after concerned citizen calls OPP

First Published:

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is crediting the actions of a concerned citizen for saving a teenage girl from human trafficking.

Brant County OPP was called to a business on Rest Acres Rd. in Paris around 9:35 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say a citizen saw something concerning happening on the property so they contacted police.

Officers arrived on scene but the people involved in the suspicious activity left the area.

The group was located nearby and police arrested a 24-year-old and 19-year-old.

Investigators say a 17-year-old victim of human trafficking was rescued at the scene.

Julian Giedroyc, of Scarborough, and Sackie Gibson, of Brampton, have been charged with traffic in persons under 18 years of age and fail to comply with release order.

They are both being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
