Teen expected to recover after being struck by SUV in Hamilton

First Published:

Hamilton police say a 17-year-old boy is expected to make a full recovery after he was struck by a SUV in downtown Hamilton on Thursday.

Police say it appears the boy had crossed into traffic when he was struck by the vehicle near the intersection of King and James streets around 2:30 p.m.

The teen was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police initially thought the boy suffered a skull fracture but later said he did not.

The intersection was closed for several hours following the incident with buses and vehicles being re-routed during the evening commute.

Police say there are no charges being laid at this time.
