SWAP Hamilton to hold vigil for woman who was violently assaulted

Sex Workers’ Action Program (SWAP) Hamilton is organizing a vigil for a 46-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted last week.

The SWAP executive director says the vigil will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on July 15 in the alley at Barton St. East and Emerald Ave where the woman was attacked.

SWAP Hamilton is also raising money for the woman’s mother as she stays in the city to be with her daughter. Donations can be made through the SWAP Hamilton website.

The woman is still in coma at Hamilton General Hospital.

24-year-old Gbenga Emmanuel Obajuluwa of Hamilton has been charged with aggravated sexual assault.
