A violent crash in Haldimand County, Friday morning sent two women to hospital, and left police searching the bottom of a quarry for other crash victims.

Just before 7:30am, two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Concession 12 and Sandusk Road near Hagersville.

A 52 year old female driver and a 22 year old female passenger were taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP says a vehicle was heading west on Concession 12 when it was hit by a northbound vehicle on Sandusk Rd. The force of the collision flipped the one vehicle the other one went into the quarry.

The Hagersville quarry is about 20 to 70 feet deep of water and the OPP had to do an underwater rescue.

Later in the afternoon, the search and recovery unit found a black GMC Denali with the body of a man inside. His name has not been released.

Sandusk Road and Concession 12 were blocked off for most of the day, as the OPP collision reconstruction team investigated the fatal crash.

Police are trying to determine if the driver of the Denali ran the stop sign.
