Halton police are searching for a driver after a stolen pickup truck crashed into a police cruiser overnight.

Police say a pickup truck was warming up in the driveway of a home in Oakville when it was stolen around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers tracked it down on the QEW near Third Line and began following the vehicle.

Additional units were called in to assist with the pursuit and police attempted to stop the truck on a residential street near Brant St. and Highway 407 in Burlington.

The pickup truck then crashed into a Halton police cruiser on Janina Blvd. Before finally coming to a stop on a dead-end street.

Police say the driver got out and fled on foot. Investigators do not know if there were any other suspects inside the vehicle.

K9 and tactical officers were called in to search the area but could not locate anyone.

The search was eventually called off around 12:45 a.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Halton police.
