St. Louis Blues win first Stanley Cup in franchise history

For the first time in franchise history, the St. Louis Blues are Stanley Cup champions.

The Blues took Game 7 of the finals by defeating the Boston Bruins, 4 to 1 in Boston.

Ryan O’Reilly scored for the fourth straight game and Jordan Binnington stopped 32 shots as the Blues held off the Bruins.

The Bruins lost their last three home games to fall short in their bid for a seventh Stanley Cup and first since 2011.

It was a pretty remarkable turnaround for St. Louis this season. On January 1, they had the worst record in the league, but then won 30 of their last 49 regular season games.

Rookie goalie Jordan Binnington made 32 saves in the win. O’Reilly won the Conn Smythe trophy as the playoffs’ MVP.
